Have you ever had an overwhelming sense of God's presence and love? This morning I was reading through some notes from Sunday morning's sermon. As I started really thinking about it I started typing what came to mind, and in a way just adding to my notes from Sunday. It was almost as if I wasn't typing at all. It was more like God was typing and I was reading what He was saying. It was so powerful, so I thought I would share some of it with y'all.
When you pray, do you expect God to do something or do you just hope He will do something? Prayer is a powerful thing when you pray in faith, expecting God to work, expecting Him to make a difference, and expecting things to change. Keep believing in the goodness of God. Psalm 107:1 God IS good. If you ever start to doubt the goodness of God, think about the cross. God is so good that he sent HIS ONLY Son who was perfect and pure, to die FOR YOU! When we as human are in pain we often tend to make bad choices, forget what He did for us, and quit obeying the Spirit. If we obey Him through the pain He WILL sustain us.The shortest verse in the Bible is "Jesus wept." Jesus loves us so much that He weeps for us when we are struggling. Let your heart feel His love. Let it consume every part of you. Rest in it, hope in it, and believe in it. Cling to the love that God has given you. Let it fill you. Don't loose grip of God's love. Let His tears heal your pain. I know most of this is what all stuff that most of us know, but when you take a minute to contemplate on it and let it sink in, it is striking. Think about it. All the people that have their false gods can't say that their god is there to listen to every prayer, every tear, every hurt. They can say that their god died for them. They can't say that their god is in control of every little detail of their life and has their best interest at heart. My God is there at all times waiting for me to come to Him with everything. Even the little things. My God DID die for me and He IS in control of every thing AND has my best interest in mind. That is who my God is. We serve and AWESOME GOD!

My dad got my mom roses for Valentines day, and I've been wanting to get some pictures of them ever sense. I don't know why but I always love taking pictures of roses. Shock of shocks, I actually had a few spare minutes earlier this afternoon so I thought I would grab the camera and see if I could get a couple of good shots. Here are a few of my favorites! No rose shoot is complete without a ring-in-the-rose shot, so I borrowed a couple of my sisters' rings. I don't claim to be a photographer so my pictures aren't perfect in any way, shape, or form, but the important thing is that I had fun doing it!
Happy Friday everyone! Hope y'all have a great weekend! Just remember to take time, stop and smell the roses! :-D This past Sunday we hosted a baby shower at our house. One of my family members had made a cake on Saturday night (the time when we were all pretty worn out from cleaning and cooking.) The intent was to make a banana chocolate chip cake but she forgot to put the bananas in. The cake didn't quite taste right and we didn't want to serve it the way it was. We were brain storming to try and figure out what to do with it and my sister Grace came up with the idea of making a Trifle. I jumped on that idea and sence we were in a time crunch I didn't want to look for a recipe so I just made one up. It ended up being a hit and several people said "I hope you wrote the recipe down." I hadn't written it down, but here is the recipe (or at least as much as I can remember it.) :-) Wish I had pictures of the final product but because of the lack of time, I couldn't take any pictures.
INGREDIENTS 1 banana chocolate chip cake (with out the bananas) :-D 1 1/2 carton Whipping Cream 3/4 cup Powdered Sugar 1 package Cream Cheese 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 to 2 tbs Milk 1/3 to 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder 2 cups Chocolate Chips INSTRUCTIONS Make whipped cream by beating the powdered sugar in to the whipping cream. (Beat for about 5 minutes.) Set aside. In another bowl, combine Cream Cheese, Sweetened Condensed Milk, milk, and Cocoa Powder. Mix until smooth. Cut cake in to 1 inch cubes. Place half of the cake in the bottom of your Trifle glass or bowl. Next layer half of your chocolate mixture, whipped cream, and chocolate chips. Repeat the steps using the rest of the ingredients. Enjoy! Yes I know I'm a few days late, but my weekend was EXTREMELY busy! So Happy belated Valentine's Day! This year my sisters and I and several young ladies from church had a girls movie night. It was so much fun just to relax, eat good food, have good fellowship, and watch movies. I didn't get very many pictures but I did get a picture of some of the food! The menu was spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, and lots of different desserts! The day after Valentine's Day I got home and made some sugar cookies for a baby shower that we had on Sunday (I told you I had a busy weekend!) The cookies turned out great! I love the recipe so I thought I would share it with you! Soft Sugar Cookies
INGREDIENTS 3 cups All-purpose Flour 1 tsp Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Salt 1 cup Butter (softened) 1 1/2 cups White Sugar 2 Eggs 2 tsp Vanilla Extract INSTRUCTIONS Mix all dry ingredients together. Add the softened butter it is thoroughly combined. (The consistency should be a little like corn meal.) Then add your eggs and Vanilla Extract. Let sit in the the frig for about 20 to 30 minutes. Role out on parchment paper. Make sure to flower your rolling pin and put powdered sugar down on your parchment paper. Role out to about 1/4 inch in thickness. Cut the desired shapes and place them on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. Let cool on pan for 3 to 4 minutes before removing to a wire rack. ICING 1 cup Powdered Sugar 2 tsp Corn Syrup 2 tsp Milk 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract INSTRUCTIONS Mix all ingredients together then add milk or corn syrup until you reach the desired consistency. For the coloring I used a little bit of Jello mix. I personally don't like the taste of food coloring, and the Jello gives it a nice flavor as well as a great color! Remember all that ice from the last post? Well last night we had another 3 inches of snow on top of that ice! I woke up this morning with the full intent to do school. I did school for about an hour but then decided that I was going to go have fun and do school later. My sisters and I went out and attempted to build Olaf from the movie Frozen! Thankfully my sister Grace is pretty good at sculpting so the head turned out pretty good! The sky started to clear and the sun came out and the trees were absolutely gorgeous! Along with the sun came warmer temperatures which also meant melting snow. Our poor Olaf has already started to melt. So much so that his nose fell off and stabbed him. All around it was a great morning, despite our poor little impaled snowman! Hope everyone is having a great day!
Happy Thursday everybody! I leave you with one last picture! |
About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
