Wow! This year went by so fast! It seams as though last New Years Eve was just yesterday! It's a good time to look back over the year, reflect on what God has taught me, and look forward to what the next year might bring, and the new exciting adventures that God has in store for me.
You hear about so many people that make a ton of "New Year resolutions" and then fall flat on their face and don't accomplish their resolution. Quite honestly I don't want to have any part of that. I'd rather look forward to the New Year with the anticipation that God is going to do something big, and just rest in Him and let Him direct. I guess in a sense that is a resolution, but it is a far cry from the majority of the "resolutions" that are being created today. In my opinion, a great way to start of the new year is with prayer. Prayer for our Nation, and prayer for our lives as individuals. I'm so excited to see what God has in store for 2014! God bless your last day of 2013. Live it to the fullest for God's glory.

I woke up this morning and decided that I wanted to make myself a real breakfast instead of having my usual granola bar or cereal. Yes, both of those things are considered breakfast food, but in my opinion a real breakfast should be something more like eggs, bacon, and toast, or pancakes, or in this case, French Toast! I went to my "Love Breakfast" pinterest board and chose THIS recipe! It turned out really well! I loved it! The recipe was so quick and easy, and tasted amazing! :-) And hey! It's the last day of 2013...why not?!?
You know that feeling when you've finally gotten caught up on all the news and then you start to make new news, make new stories, play new games, and create new memories, and then it is all cut short because everyone has to go back home?! That is what today has been like! Most of our family has traveled back home, and I'm feeling lost without my cousin around. Our family calls the two of us "The Twins" because we are always (in their words) "joined at the hip." I miss her like crazy!
I have been blessed to grow up in a very close knit family! We have always gotten along really well, and when we get together there is pretty much nonstop laughter! As the Bible says "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones." This week I have truly experienced a merry heart. Not only with all the funny stories from Uncle Ronnie, all the jokes from my Aunt Jennie, the verbal blunders and the fun loving spirit of my Aunt Mary Stuart, the smart brain of Uncle Sonnie (who totally could be on jeopardy and win), the joyful laugh of my cousin Kelli, the teasing from my cousin Casey, and the fun of having Jenna as a "twin", but also remembering the birth of my Savior, and how He humbled himself and became a baby, and came into this world just for us. I think many times we take "The Christmas Story" for granted and treated like it really is just a story, when in reality, it is a part of history. All that to say, this has been an amazing week! I miss my extended family SO much, but am so grateful for the memories we made this week! Love you family!! Can't wait to see y'all again! Until next time, as my Uncle Ronnie says, "Don't take any wooden nickles, and keep your powder dry!" *big grin! On this 2014 Christmas day, take time to remember Christ's birth, read Luke 2, and get excited about giving, and spend time with family!
One of our family traditions is that we all gather and sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus, then we get out the Bible and all the cousins take turns reading the Christmas story! What does your family do to remember why we call this holiday CHRISTmas? Merry Christmas to all of my readers!!! *special thanks to my cousin Jenna for taking the pictures while i made sure the hats stayed on the dogs! :-D Love you Jenna, you Christmas Eve! Wow y'all! I can't believe it! The Christmas season has gone by so fast! This week we are privileged to have all of my dad's side of the family over, which equals lots of games, shopping, smiles, telling stories, and a TON of laughter! My cousin Jenna brought a Gingerbread House Village Kit, and so we decided to get it out and build it! The houses turned out really cute! We had a blast doing them!
Hope all of my readers are having an amazing Christmas Eve!! |
About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
