Wednesday morning my family and I were about to leave for church and I realized that our flowers out by the mailbox were blooming! The first thought that went through my head was "wait a second...it is almost November...why are there flowers blooming?" I still don't know the answer to that question but the flowers are beautiful! Even thought I couldn't run and get the nice camera my iPod took some "ok" pictures! We had some more flowers blooming by our front door! These plants must be mixed up! But I will admit it was nice to see some bright colors happy colors!

In the past three weeks I've seen the most beautiful fall skies I think I've ever seen! First of course was on the way home from our hike a couple of weeks ago. Last Sunday there was not a cloud in the sky! It was perfectly blue! So gorgeous! The next day (Monday) I went to my sister Grace's college for a master class and spent the morning up in one of the buildings. This is the view that was out one of the windows! Yesterday morning my sister Stacey and I were kind of tired so we left for church a little later than the rest of the family, and I'm so glad we did because the sunrise was amazing. It was really cloudy over most of the sky but then right above the horizon the clouds broke and left just enough space to see the sun! The pictures really don't do it justice. God surely does know how to paint the perfect sky! Each one is different and beautiful in it's own way!
Cold weather always gets me looking for new recipes for hot drinks to try! I ran across a recipe for Brazilian Coffee! This morning I woke up and the temperature was quite chilly so I figured it was the perfect morning to try it out! It was so yummy!!! Here is the recipe so you also can enjoy!
Brazilian Coffee 1/3 cup Unsweetened cocoa 1 tsp. Salt 1 tsp. Cinnamon 1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Mild (14 Ounces) 5 cups Water 1 1/3 cup(s) Strong Brewed Coffee. 1. Combine cocoa, salt and cinnamon in 3-quart saucepan. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Mix well 2. Slowly stir in water and coffee over medium heat; heat thoroughly but do not boil. 3. Brazilian coffee may be stored in refrigerator up to 5 days. Mix well and reheat before serving. (I added extra coffee because it was a touch too sweet for me) Enjoy! This past Saturday I, along with some other young adults got up early and made a long trip to go hiking to some falls! We went to Panther Creek a couple of miles away from North Carolina! They day was kind of chilly and cloudy but it was still a ton of fun! The falls were absolutely gorgeous! When we got to the falls a couple of us went swimming and the water was freezing cold so a couple of the guys built a fire! It felt so good! Once we got the fire going we had a short time of sharing and singing, then we went and spent some quiet time alone with God. There is nothing more peaceful than spending time with our Creator out in His creation. On the hike back one of the guys found these flower type things. I'm really not sure what they were but they were really cool! If anyone knows what they are please leave a comment! On the way home the sky started to clear as the sun went down, and the colors were so beautiful! It was like the perfect ending to an amazing day! I'm so thankful that we were able to get together and have a day full of laughter, spending time with the Lord, fellowshiping with other believers, making new friends, and enjoying God's creation. Even though we were all pretty sore and some of us still are (myself included), it was such a blessing and I can't wait to do it again!
Being the youngest of four sisters, I always had one of them either asking me to turn out the light at night, or go get them a cup of water because they didn't want to have to walk ALL THE WAY INTO THE KITCHEN to get it themselves, or go do this, or go do that. As I grew older, they realized that they were having a harder time talking me into doing things for them and they started to have to beg me. By the time I finally would give in it would no longer be worth the time to argue about it and they could accomplish what they had wanted me to do in a shorter time than it would take them to convince me to do it for them! At the time I didn't want to do most of the things that they wanted me to do (any youngest child can relate), but now that we are all adults and we all are starting to go our separate ways, I'm realizing I'm missing all the little things that my sisters used to bug me about and told me to do or not do. Now they aren't around enough to boss me around and to tell me to do stuff for them. Now before you start passing judgement on my sisters, the definition of a youngest sister is "the little person that was placed in your life to do stuff for you." Every youngest child has to deal with it one time or another simply because that is where God has placed them in the family lineup! It is only fair to because all the youngest children probably are also the most spoiled and probably get away with a lot more than their older siblings did.
Thinking back to how I hated having to go do what they told me to do, wish I had had a more cheerful spirit about it. Yes, most of the stuff they asked me to do was stuff that would be just as easy for them to do, but I should have served with a more grateful spirit! After all, they did a ton of stuff for me as well! (I just couldn't see it at the time.) Now that they aren't around as much I see how much they do do for me when they are around. It makes me appreciate them that much more! All four of us girls have truly turned into best friends, and when we are all at home and aren't busy we always have a great time! I'm so grateful to God for placing me in the family I'm in, and for making me thing youngest! Ashely, Stacey, and Grace, y'all are the best sisters anybody could ever ask for! Thank you for making my life special and for being the BEST sisters in the world! I honestly don't know what I would do without y'all! |
