Yes people, it's December again! This year has flown by! Everyone is getting out their Christmas decorations, pulling out the old Christmas CD's, looking on pinterest for Christmas decoration ideas and recipes, putting fall clothes away and pulling out the winter ones, making hot chocolate and various other delectable hot drinks, making chocolate chip cookies, building gingerbread houses, starting on yearly Christmas traditions, and getting into the spirit of giving.
Christmas time is probably my favorite time of year (especially when it snows)! That feeling of crisp excitement that's in the air, kids coming in from the cold with red noses, and of course warm blankets, Christmas movies, time with family, and most of all, remembering the true Reason for the season!! Hope all are having a great Christmas season so far!! I kicked my season off with a movie night and a cup of peppermint hot chocolate!

This morning woke up and heard the wind blowing. I thought "Oh great...anther cold windy rainy day." Then I started to listen more closely. It sounded different then it had yesterday. You know...that silence that you hear when it snows... I thought to myself "It couldn't be. It isn't even past Thanksgiving. It never snows before Thanksgiving here!" I got out of bed and looked out the window...sure enough there was a light dusting of snow on the grown. Yes it was light but to this southern girl that doesn't see much snow, it was just heaven!
I've always loved snow so when we get it I like to play in it and look at it as much as I can before it goes away. My Dad came into the kitchen, and to his great amusement, found me sitting on the floor while eating my breakfast and looking out the door at the snow on our deck...yes that's how much I love it! Yes people! Winter is almost here and I hope it is going to be cold snowy one! To you people who hate winter, cold air, and snow I say, loosen up, put on a coat and hat got out and play in the snow and then come in and enjoy some hot chocolate! Have you ever noticed that most stores and large businesses just skip right past Thanksgiving, and head right into Christmas? Yesterday my parents, one of my sisters, and I went shopping. As we walked into Costco it was pretty clear that it had happened again! Christmas decorations were all over the place! Don't get me wrong. I love Christmas, but so many people get caught up in the excitement of Christmas and all the parties and all the Christmas programs, and all the presents. It's easy to do. We've all done it at one time or another. That being said, I'm so grateful to our youth choir leader for coming up with the idea of having a little tree set up in our choir room and each week till Thanksgiving we are writing different things that we are thankful for on a paper leaves and hanging them on the tree! It's been great seeing all the different things we can be thankful for!
So before you jump head first into Christmas, take a step back, and take some time to be thankful! :-) This week has been a difficult week mixed with many blessings. I'll start with Sunday's blessing. I was talking to a man in our church and he was saying that he was praying for me and had been for the past couple of weeks regarding some wrist problems I have been having. It was very encouraging to know that someone was/is praying for me. Well the next thing I know he said that he had something for me. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two jumbo sized York Peppermint Patties. My jaw dropped. (York Peppermints just happen to be my absolute favorite chocolate candy, and in addition I hadn't had one in forever.) Still in shock I said "how in the world did you know that those were my favorite?" He immediately replied "The Lord told me--through your sister." Apparently he and my sister had been talking about it a couple of weeks before and he remembered! It brought a smile to my face and brightened my day! Blessing number two came soon after. Monday morning I woke up to a wonderful smell. Come to find out, my sister Ashley had gotten up early and made me breakfast! I'm telling you, she really knows how to make breakfast y'all! I'm not sure what to call what she made so here is a picture! :-D I loved it! The third blessing came today! I had a Dr.'s appointment for my wrist. I went into the appointment thinking/dreading that I might have to have surgery or be put into a cast. I had three X-rays taken and they all three showed nothing abnormal. It turns out that I have a sprained ligament and I got a good report! So thankful to all of those who have been praying for me!
Leave a comment and tell me something the Lord has done for you this week! A couple of months back, I was giving my dog a bath. I had her around the scruff of the neck and she spotted a dragon fly flying by so she snapped at it. In the process of turning her neck VERY quickly, also turned my wrist and the action popped my wrist out of place. The next day I ended up going to the chiropractor and he popped it back in and told me not to play violin or piano for about two weeks. At the end of the two weeks it was still sore when I played violin, but thankfully I had no problem with piano. I continued to have trouble with it when I played violin and went back to the chiropractor several times. Time past and I quit going to the chiropractor and just figured it would heal on its own...which lead to yesterday. I mentioned that I was stilling having trouble with it so my parents decided it would be best for me to go back once more. The chiropractor seemed very worried and then told me "you either have a torn tendon, or a hairline fracture. It would be best if you didn't play your violin for a month or so." Thankfully I can still play piano, and I'm glad we're trying to get the problem figured out now instead of a couple of months down the road.
I'd be very grateful if you all would pray that my wrist heals quickly and that I don't have anymore problems with it. |
