While in Mexico I got to go to the Botanical Gardens there. I've got to say I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful stain glass window work. It was amazing. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous. So here's just a few pictures of the gardens. This was one of my favorite places we visited while in Mexico. I really want to go back and take more pictures! Hopefully I will some time soon!
In the mean time, to my readers, have a great rest of the week!

As promised here's another post of my summer travels. As some of you might know, I went to Mexico for a week to help out some missionaries that our church supports. The trip was amazing and life changing. God used this trip and the weeks and months leading up to the trip to strengthen my walk with Him and also impact my prayer life in a huge way. At the beginning of this year I had heard about the trip and really wanted to go, however the cost was more than I had anticipated so I had resigned myself to the thought that "God must not want me to go." Literally 2 weeks after I found out how much the trip was going to be, God provided the money I need to go so I took that as a clear open door. That was the first prayer that was answered. There was a whole team of people going and over half of us either had to get our passports or get them renewed. It came down to the wire and after much praying the last four team members, myself included, got our passports 4 days before we were supposed to leave. Answered prayer number 2. We headed to the airport early on a Monday morning. We got there about 3 hours before we were supposed to leave. We all got our boarding passes but 3 of the team members didn't have the destination on their tickets. Needless to say, we had a short little prayer meeting there in the airport and about an hour later the problem was fixed. We got through security without any problems and got to our gate 15 minutes before they started boarding. Answered prayer number 3. When we finally got to Mexico we went through to the baggage claim and were waiting for our luggage. All of us got ours except one of the team members. The belt stopped moving and the doors to the shoots were closed. The team again had another airport prayer meeting. One of our team members went to one of the attendants and used some of her Spanish to convince them to turn the belt back on. When they did, there came the last suitcase. Answered prayer number 4 and we hadn't even gotten to our final destination. We finally got to our final destination after about 2 hour drive through Mexico City. When we got there we were all pretty hungry and let me tell you, Mexico has some pretty epoch food. You have no idea what authentic Mexican tastes like until you go there and taste it yourself. There are a few "authentic Mexican restaurants" in the states but, while they come really close, they just don't quite have it. We had Fajitas, Tortas with Mexican Coke (and yes it's different--better), Mexican Sweet Bread, and a host of other yummy foods. The day after we got there we got started working on the church down there as well as helping fix up the missionaries' house. There was much to be done. The guys build a railing for the staircase at the church while the girls painted almost every room back at the house. (I don't have many pictures of the guys working.....oops) lol! After a couple of days of working hard we got to go do some sight seeing. We went all over the place so here's just a couple of pictures of our time touring! Mexico is such a beautiful place with amazing sights, great weather, and amazing food, but the thing that impacted me the most was the people. The people of Mexico are so humble, so giving, and so selfless. They have a passion for Christ that you don't find in your average church in America. Even the children. Just to give an example, the Sunday we were there we had a testimony time with the church members. A 10-year-old girl raised her hand and said "I'm thankful for Pastor and his family..." and with tears streaming down her face she said "...and I'm thankful that God brought my parents and grandparents to this church and changed them. God is big." Many gave testimonies that day but that testimony from that 10 year old girl was the most powerful testimony of all. We made so many friends and build so many relationships with the people from the church. Myself and the other two younger girls that were on the trip had the opportunity to stay with an older couple in the church. The wife didn't speak any English but the husband spoke enough to communicate. Even though it was difficult to talk to them we still were able to build a close friendship with them and the night before we left the wife told her husband to tell us that she couldn't say goodbye so she said "Hasta la vista" Which means I'll see you soon, or I'll see you later. Leaving Mexico was one of the hardest things I've done. Like I said before, this trip was life changing. I'll never be the same. I'm so grateful that God worked it out so that I could go. Like the little girl said, "God is big." A second Mexico post hopefully will be coming soon. There was just too much to fit into one post! :-)

About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
