This week has been a difficult week mixed with many blessings. I'll start with Sunday's blessing. I was talking to a man in our church and he was saying that he was praying for me and had been for the past couple of weeks regarding some wrist problems I have been having. It was very encouraging to know that someone was/is praying for me. Well the next thing I know he said that he had something for me. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two jumbo sized York Peppermint Patties. My jaw dropped. (York Peppermints just happen to be my absolute favorite chocolate candy, and in addition I hadn't had one in forever.) Still in shock I said "how in the world did you know that those were my favorite?" He immediately replied "The Lord told me--through your sister." Apparently he and my sister had been talking about it a couple of weeks before and he remembered! It brought a smile to my face and brightened my day! Blessing number two came soon after. Monday morning I woke up to a wonderful smell. Come to find out, my sister Ashley had gotten up early and made me breakfast! I'm telling you, she really knows how to make breakfast y'all! I'm not sure what to call what she made so here is a picture! :-D I loved it! The third blessing came today! I had a Dr.'s appointment for my wrist. I went into the appointment thinking/dreading that I might have to have surgery or be put into a cast. I had three X-rays taken and they all three showed nothing abnormal. It turns out that I have a sprained ligament and I got a good report! So thankful to all of those who have been praying for me!
Leave a comment and tell me something the Lord has done for you this week!

This past weekend my sister and I took a short road trip! We had a beautiful day for the drive which meant lots of cloud pictures! :-) I took a ton more cloud pictures but I shall refrain from boring you all with an exhaustive amount of them! The destination of our road trip, a sweet friend of ours who was having her 16th birthday party! Happy birthday Liz! Thanks for making us a part of your special day!
Being the youngest of four sisters, I always had one of them either asking me to turn out the light at night, or go get them a cup of water because they didn't want to have to walk ALL THE WAY INTO THE KITCHEN to get it themselves, or go do this, or go do that. As I grew older, they realized that they were having a harder time talking me into doing things for them and they started to have to beg me. By the time I finally would give in it would no longer be worth the time to argue about it and they could accomplish what they had wanted me to do in a shorter time than it would take them to convince me to do it for them! At the time I didn't want to do most of the things that they wanted me to do (any youngest child can relate), but now that we are all adults and we all are starting to go our separate ways, I'm realizing I'm missing all the little things that my sisters used to bug me about and told me to do or not do. Now they aren't around enough to boss me around and to tell me to do stuff for them. Now before you start passing judgement on my sisters, the definition of a youngest sister is "the little person that was placed in your life to do stuff for you." Every youngest child has to deal with it one time or another simply because that is where God has placed them in the family lineup! It is only fair to because all the youngest children probably are also the most spoiled and probably get away with a lot more than their older siblings did.
Thinking back to how I hated having to go do what they told me to do, wish I had had a more cheerful spirit about it. Yes, most of the stuff they asked me to do was stuff that would be just as easy for them to do, but I should have served with a more grateful spirit! After all, they did a ton of stuff for me as well! (I just couldn't see it at the time.) Now that they aren't around as much I see how much they do do for me when they are around. It makes me appreciate them that much more! All four of us girls have truly turned into best friends, and when we are all at home and aren't busy we always have a great time! I'm so grateful to God for placing me in the family I'm in, and for making me thing youngest! Ashely, Stacey, and Grace, y'all are the best sisters anybody could ever ask for! Thank you for making my life special and for being the BEST sisters in the world! I honestly don't know what I would do without y'all! Recently I was working on a project for school and I had to write a descriptive essay. I knew when I first started out that it had to be something near and dear to me. I write way better when I know what I'm talking about *duh.* Anyways, as I was thinking about what to write on, and I started thinking about our extended family up in VA. God has truly blessed me with close relatives who not only love to laugh but also love the Lord. Every time we go to visit we come back refreshed and encouraged. After thinking about it for a while, I knew I had my topic! So here is the finished product! Hope y'all enjoy getting a little taste of what my family is like!
*disclaimer* My Aunt Jennie was once called Uncle Jennie by a young family member and it stuck so she will forever be called Uncle Jennie! :-) The Tweed's Residence The setting is early September in the late morning. The white van pulls onto the familiar street. A few seconds later a white house with a blue roof appears. Before you know it we are pulling into the perfectly smooth black paved driveway. As we pull up to the front porch the door swings open. Uncle Jennie steps out wearing her Red M&M shirt, with Uncle Ronnie, Kelli, and Jenna not far behind waving at us. Everyone piles out of the car as fast as they can, racing to be the first one to get a hug and to use the one bathroom in the house. After hugs are exchanged on the side porch, we all enter. The minute you enter the house, smells of Uncle Jennie's Mac 'n Cheese, and numerous sweet smells greet you. The living room is dark and cool and feels very good after the long drive in the hot car. Everyone gathers all happy to be together once again. After joining hands and blessing the food, we head into the kitchen as the tall Grandfather clock in the living room strikes twelve. The kitchen, though small, is full of intense sweet and savory smells of delicious food. We all grab our plates and load them up buffet style at the stove. The Virginia weather is gorgeous so we all go out to the back porch to enjoy the breeze, and the comfortable swing and rockers, while we eat our lunch. After lunch everyone hurries to help get the food put away. There is always so much food that Uncle Jennie asks us to carry some of it to the basement fridge. As we go down the stairs the smell of Uncle Ronnie's tools and machinery mix with the smell of what we all like to call excitement. After the food is put away we all get the suitcases out of the van and carry them to our rooms. As we carry the luggage up the hardwood stairs the fresh air comes through the upstairs window filling the room with the sweet smell of the Virginia country side. The room is warm now but it will cool off by the time we go to bed. The big room has a big bed with a blue and white quilt on top as well as a small cot with a patchwork quilt. The smaller room has one large bed with a quilt on it and has it's own little window with yellow curtains. After getting all of our things put away we head back down stairs. We all gather in the living room to catch up on what has been happening. Soon another van enters the driveway and we all run out to see Uncle Sonnie and Mary Stuart, then comes more hugs and catching up on the latest news. After a while we begin to talk about crafts. Uncle Jennie leads us into the den where she keeps all of her crafts and sewing projects. Uncle Ronnie is there as well sitting at his desk filling out paper work and completing a sale over the phone for the Royal Oil Company. We get some crafts to look at and make our way out of the den towards the dining room, passing the previously mentioned “one bathroom,” then passing a bedroom. We walk through the kitchen and enter the dining room. It is small but very comfortable and cozy. We all giggle and laugh at all of our blunders and funny stories being passed around the room. The crafts must be put aside because now it is time to get dinner. We pull out leftovers and heat them up. They say that it is always better the second time around. Proceedings happen much like lunch as well as clean up. Everyone is stuffed and ready to head to the living room to spend a few more hours playing games, laughing at Uncle Ronnie's jokes and routine and before we know it, it is time to say goodbye to Uncle Sonnie and Mary Stuart. The day has come to a close, and the excitement of the next day fills the thoughts of all in the house. Why? Because we are at the Tweed's residence, and you never know what the next day might hold! Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
