So I woke up the other morning with the realization that I am finally home. This summer was really the craziest summer of my entire life. It gave me a new perspective on SO many things. But, being back home, it would be very easy for me to slip back into a mediocre way of thinking, living, and acting. That's not what I want for my life. The verse that is on the back of The Wilds welcome sign is 2 Timothy 3:14 "But continue thou in the things which thou has learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them." With that verse in mind I just want to share some thoughts that I had written down the last week of camp. I was talking to one of my new friends up there and something that really stuck out to me as we were talking was the concept of continual growth and Christ-likeness. Being like Christ should be our goal as Christians, so we should be willing to say 'yes' to what ever the Lord wants us to do. Sometimes it is just saying 'yes' to something God wants us to change in our lives. Faith is looking at that situation or habit that needs to change and saying 'yes, I will do what ever it takes to change that' in order to be more like Christ. Faith comes in when those changes you are making are made without knowing what will happen after that. God wants us to trust Him enough to just say 'yes' blindly without conditions or questions. That is true belief that God is in control. Anything less is unbelief and complete disregard to God's preeminence and sovereignty. Growth must be constant. If we say 'no' to God in a specific area, even if we consider it small or insignificant, we are stunting our own growth...thus making our walk with God stagnate. God will continue to work on that area until we are willing to say 'yes.' God works in steps and layers. We can't just simply skip a step or skip a layer, so why waste time when all it takes is a blind 'yes Lord' in faith so our eyes will be open to the next truth God has to teach us...thus always growing. All of these thoughts really challenged me and I can only pray that I will be that person of faith that will always say 'yes Lord' without any questions. I have no idea what the Lord will ask me to do in the coming months. But for now, I know God has me home, investing time with my family and my church family. Also, taking time to appreciating the little things in life has become something that I don't want to take for granted. God has given me so much and I guess I've always kind of taken them for granted. So, this week just some small things that I'm grateful for are.... Early mornings with my Bible and a bowl of cereal and fruit. Morning hikes with my sister... ...salads...(I must say I missed having a lot of salads while I was at camp. We only got them on weekends so now that I've been home I've been having them like EVERY day.) ...and lastly, sunsets. It isn't just at the Wilds that you can find a gorgeous sky! 😊 Also, it is really nice to cell service all the time instead of having to walk a mile to a hot spot.... #countingmyblessings

Looking back at this past summer, I'm so grateful that God gave me the opportunity to be at the Wilds and learn more about Him, serve the people there, and challenge my thinking about so many things. I can honestly say that I did more growing in the short three months that I was there than I have in quite some time. The wonderful thing about it is the fact that I can take all the tools that I learned and implement them in my life for the rest of my life...thus continuing to grow. I'm so excited about where the Lord will lead me this fall and there are a few exciting projects that I will be working on! Lord willing, I'll be able to share more on that in the coming months. For now though, I'm just going to share a few pictures from my summer! These lovely ladies were in my discipleship group! It was so amazing to meet with them every Monday and reflect on things that happened the week before and focus on what God had for us the upcoming week! For those of you who didn't know, I did laundry all summer, and this was my crew. I had the most amazing crew chiefs. They challenged me, encouraged me, and gave me amazing tools that I will use for the rest of my life. My crew members taught me a lot too! It was so amazing to get to know them! Just a snippet from Funtime. And to answer the question I've gotten 1,000 times; No, I never got tired of fun time. It got more funny every time I watched it! Thursday night became the laundry crew/house keeping crew's movie night. It was a great time to just relax and spend some quality time together!

About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
