On Thursday my sisters and I went to spend some time with some friends of ours! The plan was to decorate a homemade gingerbread house, (Not one of those cheesy kits) and then play games, watch movie and do all the fun stuff that girls do when they get together for a sleep over! Back to the Gingerbread house, my sisters and I were so excited about decorating one because it had been simply years sense we had done one. We spent hours on it, turning this... ...into this! This is the back. This is the front! Please take time to notice the "Grinch from Dr. Seuss" coming out of the chimney. I spent at least 3o minutes on him! He is made of melted lifesavers, melted candycorn. and icing! I burnt my fingers making him, but it was totally worth it! :-D (my apologies for the terrible pictures...I forgot to take the good camera) Thank you to the Rainwater family for opening up their home to us! We all had an amazing time! You'll are so much fun to be with!
To my readers, you'll have five days to finish Christmas shopping, decorating, and cooking before Christmas day! Enjoy, and don't forget to remember the Reason for the season!

This week has been a difficult week mixed with many blessings. I'll start with Sunday's blessing. I was talking to a man in our church and he was saying that he was praying for me and had been for the past couple of weeks regarding some wrist problems I have been having. It was very encouraging to know that someone was/is praying for me. Well the next thing I know he said that he had something for me. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two jumbo sized York Peppermint Patties. My jaw dropped. (York Peppermints just happen to be my absolute favorite chocolate candy, and in addition I hadn't had one in forever.) Still in shock I said "how in the world did you know that those were my favorite?" He immediately replied "The Lord told me--through your sister." Apparently he and my sister had been talking about it a couple of weeks before and he remembered! It brought a smile to my face and brightened my day! Blessing number two came soon after. Monday morning I woke up to a wonderful smell. Come to find out, my sister Ashley had gotten up early and made me breakfast! I'm telling you, she really knows how to make breakfast y'all! I'm not sure what to call what she made so here is a picture! :-D I loved it! The third blessing came today! I had a Dr.'s appointment for my wrist. I went into the appointment thinking/dreading that I might have to have surgery or be put into a cast. I had three X-rays taken and they all three showed nothing abnormal. It turns out that I have a sprained ligament and I got a good report! So thankful to all of those who have been praying for me!
Leave a comment and tell me something the Lord has done for you this week! This past weekend my sister and I took a short road trip! We had a beautiful day for the drive which meant lots of cloud pictures! :-) I took a ton more cloud pictures but I shall refrain from boring you all with an exhaustive amount of them! The destination of our road trip, a sweet friend of ours who was having her 16th birthday party! Happy birthday Liz! Thanks for making us a part of your special day!
This past Saturday I, along with some other young adults got up early and made a long trip to go hiking to some falls! We went to Panther Creek a couple of miles away from North Carolina! They day was kind of chilly and cloudy but it was still a ton of fun! The falls were absolutely gorgeous! When we got to the falls a couple of us went swimming and the water was freezing cold so a couple of the guys built a fire! It felt so good! Once we got the fire going we had a short time of sharing and singing, then we went and spent some quiet time alone with God. There is nothing more peaceful than spending time with our Creator out in His creation. On the hike back one of the guys found these flower type things. I'm really not sure what they were but they were really cool! If anyone knows what they are please leave a comment! On the way home the sky started to clear as the sun went down, and the colors were so beautiful! It was like the perfect ending to an amazing day! I'm so thankful that we were able to get together and have a day full of laughter, spending time with the Lord, fellowshiping with other believers, making new friends, and enjoying God's creation. Even though we were all pretty sore and some of us still are (myself included), it was such a blessing and I can't wait to do it again!
This afternoon I was up in my room and looked out my window and saw one of my neighbors that I hadn't seen in at least a year and a half. When we moved into the house we are in now she was in third or forth grade and she and her sisters would always come out to play with me and my sisters and we always had a blast. As she got older and had more school we saw her less and less, and then she started high school and we never saw her. She is now in tenth grade and is doing really well! It was so great to catch up with her and hear how she was doing! In my book it was a divine appointment! She seems to be doing well but she also seemed to be pining for someone to talk to and so we walked around the entire neighborhood and talked and then stood in our yard for another twenty minutes or so just talking and catching up. I'm so glad God gave me the opportunity to go out and talk to her. Though we didn't get into anything deep I really think it was good for her just to have someone to talk to. It was so amazing how we were just able to pick up where we left off. That was totally God's doing! I'm so grateful to Him!
I wouldn't normally post something that would seem to be so common place, but I've been thinking a lot about how we don't praise God for most things that we would consider little and insignificant, but in reality He does little things for us every day and they shouldn't go unnoticed. I'm praising God for giving me an opportunity to catch up with a childhood friend! Thank you Jesus!! What are you praising God for today? |
About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
