Have you ever done something that was way outside of your comfort zone and then found out that you loved it but told yourself you probably wouldn't be doing it again? Well, I did that last year when I went to the Wilds Christian camp to work for the summer. I came home thinking that it would probably be a one summer thing and that I probably wouldn't be doing it again. But, surprise, surprise, I'm back at camp anyways! It is amazing how the Lord directs my steps down paths that I didn't think I would ever be walking. I have to say, it has been pretty crazy at camp this summer and it is only the end of the second week. The Lord has already taught me so much, and I've seen so many lives changed in the last 14 days. God is good. The weeks have been flying by simply because there is so much packed into each day.
Coming back to camp and jumping into the same job I had last year was really surreal. When I jumped back into the swing of things it was almost as if I had never left. Don't get me wrong, I partially had forgotten what all was involved in the schedule and part of me wonders how I even got through the summer last summer just because we are busy all the time. But God gives just enough grace to get me through the day but still making me rely on Him for each new thing that comes up. One thing that I love about camp is how much I'm in the Word of God. I can't tell you how refreshing it is. Sure at home I have normal devotions and all, but it is completely different at camp. At camp you have services every night, a devotional book that we are going through in small groups, personal devotions, as well as crew devotions. Sometimes it is overwhelming to try to fit it all in but there is always time for your priorities and if God is a priority, you'll make time for Him and His Word. My crew and I are doing a study on the life of Jesus. Last week we read through he book of Luke, looking for verses that talk about Jesus' devotion to God. Wow was it convicting. We are to be constantly becoming more like Christ, and that definitely includes behaving as Jesus would behave in situations. If you read through the book of Luke, literally everything that Jesus does is pointed toward serving God and serving others. Each time he came in contact with people He would share truth, heal them, raise or them from the dead, and then point them to God, even though He is God. What humility. Jesus as a man never took credit for the work He was doing. He always directed the praise and glory to God. I would like to encourage each of you to take time to get in the word this summer. Most people are out of school for the summer and the temptation is to get busy doing fun summer things and allow it to overtake the most important thing; growing your relationship with Christ. Keep in His word, take extra time that you have without school to spend time praying, and getting to know your God better. I love the fact that no matter how much we learn about God there is always more to learn. His Word is inexhaustible. Luke 11:28 "But he said, Yea rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
