Hello all! I know that I've been super quiet for the past 6 weeks, but I really have a great excuse! For all of you that don't know, I'm working at a Christian camp call The Wilds, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. We serve about 1,000 young people each week for 10 weeks and then have a family camp at the very end of summer. That means over 10,000 people before the end of the summer. I'm so grateful to God for giving me this opportunity to serve here for the summer! This summer has been great so far and I can't believe that it has already been 6 weeks since I left home. The first week here was staff training week and honestly, that was the most lonely, stretching, difficult week of my life. But God is faithful. One of the biggest things He showed me that week was that I needed to rely on Him for my companionship, my energy, and my hope. I thought that week would never end and at the end of it I just wanted to go home. But I know that this is where God has me this summer and I know He has me here for a reason. It is so awesome getting to see hundreds of teens come to Christ each week and even more getting their lives back on track and deciding to dedicate their lives to Christ. Our prayer for each of the campers is that they will continue in what they've learned not just for the week but that they will take it back home with them and live it out. 2 Timothy 3:14 "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them." This verse is located on the back side of our welcome sign so that it is the last thing the campers see before leaving camp. One thing that has been reiterated each week is the fact that we are weak but God is strong. It is so funny how I specifically always find myself trying to do things in my own strength at the beginning of a new week and before the second day is over I am struck by how much I just CAN NOT do on my own. Christ must be preeminent in my life. -- That is that He should be the forethought of everything I think, say, and do, and He should be the reason I do all the things I do. If what I'm doing isn't bringing glory to God, I shouldn't be doing. Our camp verse is 1 Corinthians 10:30 "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." All the full time staff here make it their purpose to live that verse out in their lives. It is pretty amazing what can happen when everyone is of one mindset and that is "serving people by sharing the truth of God with the love of God so that lives can be changed to the glory of God." I have so many stories I could tell but because of time those will have to wait. But here are a few pictures of camp! Hope everyone is having a blessed summer!

About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
